About us

Plantsplus first opened its doors to the public in 2000, after 30 years of being a wholesale only nursery supplying plants to the trade. Recognising its potential, it was bought to join Garden Centres already successfully operating from sites at Berwick and Dunbar around 5 years ago.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength and we think it is now one of the leading Garden Centres is the North East. Substantial improvements have been made since it was brought into the fold and we are always looking to improve the offering to our valued customers. You can help us do that.

Plantsplus is a large Garden Centre which is well known for the quality of its plants grown on site and a plant area which is brimming with fabulous offerings. We also sell garden hardware, gifts and cards, clothing, pet accessories and we are also very proud of our thriving restaurant.

The Role

You will work closely with and report to the Centre Manager, Robert O’Rourke supporting him in the overall efficient running of the site. We have a strong team of dedicated staff who make our Garden Centre what it is. You will help harness the resources of the business to support sales to new and existing customers with service that helps set us apart in a competitive market.

The Candidate

We are seeking a creative, energetic and committed individual to help drive us forward. A true team player you will have well developed people skills which will help you lead team members, look after our visitors and negotiate with suppliers.

You will be keen to accept responsibility when required and have the versatility to operate effectively in an unpredictable retail environment. Exceptional customer service skills are a given and an interest in gardening an advantage.

Additional Attributes

• Retail experience, preferably in multi product garden centre management (3 years minimum)
• Merchandising skills – with particular emphasis in giftware, homeware, farm shop and Christmas
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and other legislative procedures
